Intel has announced the launch of Intel Future Scientist programme in Karnataka.
The company in a release said that it wanted to ensure that the next generation of innovators have a strong background in science, technology, engineering and maths.
Intel said that the programme is designed to help science teachers present their curricula from an inquiry-based perspective to help foster a spirit of research and innovation among their students.
Mr Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri, Karnataka’s Primary and Secondary Education Minister, said: “Intel’s initiative with Karnataka Vigyan Yatra will support schools across the state to strengthen inquiry-based learning, encourage curiosity and innovation in the classrooms.”
Through this programme, Intel aims to reach out to seven districts across Karnataka and train 500 teachers and 5,000 students.
Dr Praveen Vishakantaiah, President, Intel India, said: “A strong maths and science foundation coupled with skills such as critical thinking, collaboration and problem-solving are crucial for success in the knowledge economy.”
