IT firms have made over 1 lakh job offers so far this year

Nasscom President, Mr Som Mittal, said on Friday that IT companies have made nearly one lakh offers so far this year.

He said that this year 650,000 engineers graduated in India, contributing to a large talent pool. Mr Mittal was delivering the keynote address on ‘Opportunities in the Changing IT landscape — Vision 2020’ at the Advantage AP, 2012, IT summit.

Mr Mittal said leading IT companies registered a growth of 7 per cent in fiscal 2011-12 and the revenue per client for top companies went up by 18 per cent since FY2010.

He said 58 per cent of the workforce was from Tier II/III cities, with 31 per cent of the workforce being women. Nearly 60 per cent of the companies in the sector provided employment to differently-abled people, he said.

He said, by 2020, Nasscom estimates that India’s IT/ITeS exports will reach $22 billion. The domestic market growth will be driven by enterprise adoption of IT, Government, IT consumption, and SMEs. soma@thehindu.co.in
