Phaneesh Murthy, the sacked CEO of iGate, said that the allegation of sexual misconduct against him was false and it appeared to be a case of extortion.
Speaking to reporters via a conference call, Murthy said that he had informed the company about his relationship with a subordinate and therefore it was not right to say that he had kept the relationship under wraps.
He said that he will contest all allegations against him as he believed that he had not violated any company policy.
When asked if he saw any similarity between what happened in 2002 at Infosys, when he was charged with sexual harassment by an employee, Murthy said that the lawyer was the same.
“I have not violated any company policy. I will contest this,’’ Murthy said.
Market watchers said that it could be a fallout of boardroom battle at iGate although Murthy declined to comment on this aspect.
