Japan's NEC Corp is in initial talks to acquire IT services firm Mphasis Ltd, majority owned by HP Inc, CNBC TV18 reported on Friday, citing unnamed sources.
An MphasiS spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment.
Shares of MphasiS, in which HP has a 60.5 per cent stake, were up 1.5 per cent on the BSE.
IT services provider MphasiS shares had risen as much as 9 per cent in early trade.
