Junglee.com, a service by Amazon, is metamorphosing from being just a search and price comparison site to an open marketplace for shoppers who can buy new or used products both online or offline.
Till recently, customers who chose to buy products listed on Junglee.com were redirected to other e-commerce websites such as Amazon.in, Jabong, HomeShop18, Indiatimes Shopping Infibeam as well as popular brick and mortar stores like Croma, Ezone, Staples, Landmark etc. In addition, Junglee now allows customers to buy 3.5 crore products from over 1 lakh online and offline sellers, where customers can use their existing Junglee or Amazon account to make transactions.
Additionally, over 2,500 e-commerce sites list their products on Junglee; however, Flipkart and Snapdeal haven chosen not to list on Junglee as they directly compete with its parent site, Amazon.in.
To widen its customer net, Junglee introduced the ‘used’ category by partnering Quikr.com last year with consumer electronics to start with. Junglee terminated the partnership with Quikr. However, it has expanded its ‘used’ category offering to include used vehicles and automotive accessories last December and today offers many more pre-owned products across furniture, music, books, home décor, watches, sports equipment, toys & games, baby products, movies & TV shows, musical instruments, air-conditioners, refrigerators, kitchen and home appliances, among others.
“Our mission is to provide everything that a customer wants to buy or sell on our site, new or used, both online or offline. Customers can find anything on Junglee from a Table Tennis robot for ₹1 lakh, the perfect running shoes to Malabar biryani masala and pre-owned Rolls Royces and Lambhorginis. Customers have the option of transacting directly on Junglee, being directed to seller e-commerce sites, or physically go to seller stores after contacting them on Junglee,” Mahendra Nerurkar, General Manager at Junglee.com told BusinessLine .
Free ride vouchersJunglee has partnered with Ola, where customers who post ads to sell their used vehicles — cars or two wheelers — from May 27{+t}{+h} to June 2{+n}{+d} will win free ride vouchers worth ₹200 from Ola. “This promotion is a way to get customers out of their inertia to list their used vehicles on Junglee. It also exposes high-intent shoppers on our site to Ola services,” said Nerurkar.
Junglee also partnered with Sunday Soul Sante, the arts and crafts flea market in Bengaluru this month to become its online sponsor where customers can view and buy most of the selection displayed at Sunday Soul Sante on Junglee in a specially curated section without having to wait months for the next Sante. Junglee attracts 14 million unique visitors to its site every month.
