Karnataka’s software exports touch Rs 85,000 cr

Karnataka, with its lion's share of the IT industry, notched software exports worth Rs 85,000 crore during 2010-11. The State's 2,200 registered software and 70 hardware units have contributed 33 per cent to the total software exports from the country.

As many as 24 top performing IT companies have won this year's STPI IT Exports Awards. The awards were announced on Wednesday evening at the Bangalore IT.biz 2011.

Ms Smitha R. and Ms Sanmangala M.S. co-founders, Utthunga Technologies Pvt. Ltd, were chosen the best women entrepreneurs of the year.

The awards were for 23 categories including exports from IT/IT-enabled services, employment, best STPI incubatee, electronic hardware company and special recognition for performers from tier II/III regions - mostly Mysore, Hubli and Mangalore.

Some of the winning companies are Optimal Solutions Integration Software Pvt. Ltd; Sonus Networks India Pvt. Ltd; Software Paradigms Infotech Pvt. Ltd; Sys Information Healthcare (I) Pvt. Ltd; Invenger Technologies Pvt. Ltd; Diya Systems (Mangalore) Pvt. Ltd; Sankalp Semiconductor Pvt. Ltd; RiteScribe Med Info Pvt. Ltd; Aldius Consulting Group; Rangsons Electronics Pvt. Ltd; VXL Instruments Ltd; GE Medical Systems (I) Pvt. Ltd; Global e-Business Operations Pvt. Ltd.

Infosys Technologies Ltd. was named the highest employer. CBay Systems (I) P Ltd the highest new ITES jobs creator; and Hewlett Packard GlobalSoft Ltd the highest new jobs creator in IT.

Also in the list are Goldman Sachs Services (P) Ltd, Qualcomm India Pvt. Ltd and Intel Technology India Pvt. Ltd.
