Lenovo India on Wednesday said it has appointed Sudhin Mathur as Director, Smartphones, for India. Based out of Gurgaon, he will be responsible for steering the company’s growth strategies for smartphones in the country.
Mathur has over 20 years of experience in business management and consumer marketing in varied industries such as telecom, services and office products, the company said in a statement.
One of his significant contributions has been in setting up and launching the Sony Ericsson brand in India. Till recently he was the Business Head for LG Mobile, India where he spearheaded the company’s overall business operations for mobile phones.
“Lenovo is among the top PC players in India today and this is indeed an opportune time, when we are building mindshare in the PC+ space. We believe Sudhin will add a lot of value to our long-term vision and strategy to achieve leadership in the PC+ era,” J. D. Howard, Vice-President, Mobile Internet Devices Home - Worldwide, Lenovo said.
A mechanical engineer from the Delhi College of Engineering, Mathur has a Post Graduate degree in Business Management from IMT Ghaziabad.
“Sudhin’s track record for growing mobile phone brands and establishing them as leading players will aid our growth in India,” Amar Babu, Managing Director, Lenovo India said.
