‘Sage counsel' is what Infosys' board can expect from Mr Kundapur Vaman Kamath, the newly-appointed Chairman, say industry watchers.
His induction into the board of the country's second biggest IT company comes at a time when Infosys is in a state of flux. Two of its top executives — Mr Mohandas Pai, member of the board and Head of HR, Administration and Learning and Facilities, and Mr K. Dinesh, co-Founder and Director — on April 15 announced that they are quitting. The company also reported fourth quarter numbers that were not in line with market expectations.
A top-notch banker with a rich experience of almost four decades in development and commercial banking, Mr Kamath is the non-executive Chairman of ICICI Bank.
Known for his trouble-shooting abilities, he is believed to have mediated between the Ambani brothers to find a workable solution to the break-up of the Reliance empire.
