With a view to strengthening its presence in the ‘rest of the world’ (the markets outside of the US and Europe), Mahindra Satyam has made Bobby Gupta the head of Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) and G.B. Kumar as the leader of Middle-East and Africa (MENA).
The Hyderabad-based company said the changes have been made in tune with the new concept of CEO Force. The aim of this ‘Force’ is to promote distributed leadership, giving the sub-CEOs more responsibilities and targets.
“The two leaders will nurture, grow and manage these two regions,” Rohit Gandhi, Senior Vice-President (Asia-Pacific, India, Middle East and Africa) of Mahindra Satyam, said here in a statement.
Mahindra Satyam earns 24 per cent of its revenues from the Rest of the World market. The firm registered revenues of Rs 1,940 crore in the third quarter ended December 31, 2012.
Bobby Gupta, who had studied and worked in Australia for several years, joined the firm in 2009 from IBM and was heading MENA prior to this new role. “In his new role at ANZ, he will be tasked with building on one-of-the largest English-speaking market for Mahindra Satyam which has substantive presence,” Rohit Gandhi said.
G.B. Kumar, who led Asia Pacific, Japan and China as Managing Director for Enterprise Services for Cisco Systems, will replace Bobby Gupta in the MENA region.
Hearing deferred
Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh High Court has deferred the case pertaining to the merger petition by the company to March 12. Last week, the court received a report from the chartered accounting firm Brahmayya and Co. on the accounts of various companies involved in the merger.
