Tech Mahindra Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer CP Gurnani has asked start-ups and executives of IT firms to make innovation their agenda.

“The DNA of innovation is right there within the organisations. Only, we need to make it our agenda to tap it well,” he said.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Mission Innovation (MI16) event near here on Tuesday, he said working hard was good. “It is a solution for many problems. But it is not enough. You need to collaborate with machines and data to make a difference. It’s called smart working,” he said.

The two-day event happening at the Tech Mahindra’s Bahdurpally Campus focussed on robotics, artificial intelligence, automation, design thinking and Internet of Things.

New technologies On the sidelines of the event, the company showcased new technologies, products and solutions developed internally.

Smart working, however, was not something that was static. “It changes every day and you need to adapt yourself to the evolving technological landscape,” he said.

Stating that one must take risks, he said if one wanted to succeed, one had to celebrate failures. Possibilities were immense and people were willing to disrupt existing models and technologies.

“If you challenge them, they will come out with disruptive ideas and technologies. Not that all of them succeed, but they can certainly make attempts to innovate,” he said, asking the entrepreneurs to encourage the employees to think out of the box.
