The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Wednesday advised all broadcasters and local cable operators to ensure that any channel available today is not discontinued on December 29.
In a circular on Wednesday, TRAI said, “This is keeping in view the interest of the subscribers and to enable a smooth transition for all existing subscribers.”
TRAI said that the migration plan will provide ample opportunity to each and every subscriber to make an informed choice. This will also enable service providers carry out the various activities as stipulated in the new regulatory framework in a time-bound manner.
The broadcasters and local cable operators are migrating to the regulatory framework for broadcasting and cable services from December 29.
The regulatory framework is aimed at bringing in transparency and better programming at competitive prices for consumers.
