Start-up Codevidhya is keen to ride the coding demand wave in the country with special attention to making children “future ready” for better employability. To this end, this three-year edtech is now providing vocational courses around coding at nominal prices, said its Founder Shivram Choudhary.
“The reason for coming up with Codevidhya was that I saw a gap in what is being taught and what the industry demands. I found that the computer curriculum was not revised in schools for several years and that the subject is taught but is not given the attention it requires,” said Choudhary.
Coding is about critical thinking, problem solving and helps collaboration among students.
Codevidhya’s curriculum helps students learn the skills which will help them in the future, he added.
Founded in 2016, Codevidhya offers curriculum to students in classes I to X. The content consists of online study materials, teachers’ training, workshops for students and online assessments.
Currently, it is working with 24 schools (14 in Rajasthan and 10 in Tamil Nadu).
“Over 10,000 students in Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu have been covered and we want to reach out to one lakh students in the next one year. However, we will focus only on Rajasthan to achieve this target,” said Choudhary.
The start-up provides the curriculum to the schools and charges a fee of ₹1,000 per student every year.
“We have also requested schools to increase the number of practical classes so that the students can have better understanding of the subject,” he added.
Besides expanding to other States, Codevidhya plans to come up with the curriculum for classes XI and XII by 2021-2022.
