Another round of top level management changes is being done at Bharti Airtel.
Manoj Kohli will be appointed as the new Managing Director of the company. Sunil Mittal was holding the post of Managing Director earlier.
Now, Mittal will be the Executive Chairman of the company. Gopal Vittal, who will take over as the CEO of Airtel’s India operations, will be appointed as Joint Managing Director on Bharti’s board.
Both Kohli and Vittal will report to Mittal. While Kohli will still be the CEO of Airtel’s international business, Vittal will lead the India operations.
Kohli is a veteran in Airtel and was earlier the CEO of the company’s India operations. But after Airtel acquired Zain Telecom’s Africa operations, Kohli was moved to Nairobi while Sanjay Kapoor took over as the CEO of India operations. Kapoor has decided to quit the company and will make way for Vittal by end of February.
