Microsoft India launched three Nokia Lumia mobile phones running on Windows 10 – Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 550, which will be available in authorised Microsoft retail outlets in Chennai today.
While the latest flagship devices Lumia 950 and 950 XL, priced at ₹43,699 and ₹49,399, are targeted at the Windows fans and business consumers, Lumia 550 that is priced at ₹9,399 is aimed at consumers looking at value for money.
Lumia 950 and 950 XL allow consumers to use the mobile as their personal computer (PC) by connecting it to a monitor and use the built-in Office services (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to access the files via OneDrive and Cloud while simultaneously taking calls or performing other tasks. The phones have Iris recognition apart from regular locking system. The flagship models sport Cortana, a personal assistant for Windows 10, designed specially for Indian users.
TS Sridhar, Director, Microsoft Mobile Devices, said Cortana designed for the Indian ecosystem can recognise terms specific to India and does not have an accent, unlike its predecessor, and hence more efficient.
Microsoft India launched recently Windows Surface Pro 4, starting at the price of ₹89,990, for which the sales will begin from January 14.
