Microsoft India’s new President, Anant Maheshwari, does not see any headwinds coming in the way of growth and is betting on the growing need for digital transformation in the country.
“If you look at macros globally, India is at a sweet spot. We are already among the top five economies of the world. That’s why you see a lot of global companies investing in India and we are too — we see a lot of opportunity from it,” Maheshwari said in his first interview with BusinessLine after taking charge on January 1.
The former President of Honeywell India will now be responsible for the sales, marketing and services operations of Microsoft in India. At the core of his agenda is a three-pronged strategy — enabling partners, empowering entrepreneurs and making Digital India a reality.
Maheshwari said initiatives such as the Goods and Services Tax (GST) will create more opportunities. “It will have challenges as it comes in because you are rewiring a lot of existing ways of doing business in India. I am optimistic that GST can enable us to remove a lot of inefficiencies in our broader system and create opportunities to do much more,” he said.
