IT firm MindTree today said its development centre in Florida, which is now open for business, is expected to hire around 400 people.
“The development centre is expected to bring around 400 new jobs to the Gainesville area (in Florida),” the company said in a statement.
The hiring will be done from the University of Florida and other universities across the country, it added.
MindTree’’s US development centre (USDC) is its first outside India and is part of the company’s strategy to broaden its IT and software consulting offerings to its clients in the states.
The statement said all functions at the USDC are being overseen by its new general manager Joelle Smith. Smith has been selected to lead MindTree’s expansion of its US presence and cultivate new IT and engineering talent in the region.
“Our onshore options are attractive to our existing clients and for many of our new clients who would like to move to the US, we offer competitive cost differentiation,” Smith said.
