Smartphone maker BlackBerry on Wednesday launched its latest handset Z3 priced at ₹15,990.
The new handset will be available from July 2. However, customers can pre-book with the MobileStore, Flipkart and all BlackBerry exclusive stores from Wednesday to July 2.
The latest handset features BlackBerry 10 operating system version 10.2.1, it has 5-inch screen and five-megapixel rear camera with flash and 1.1-megapixel front camera. While the handset has an internal memory of 8 GB, customers can use the microSD card slot for further expansion.
“The BlackBerry Z3 is also the first smartphone to be introduced from our strategic partnership with Foxconn and it further strengthens our commitment to enhance our devices portfolio,” Sunil Lalvani, Managing Director, BlackBerry India, said here at the launch.
For the first time ever, the company also launched BlackBerry Maps for its users in India.
This app will provide 2D maps, local search and powerful 3D voice guided turn-by-turn directions, the company said.
With latest features It also has BBM with all the latest features of the popular mobile social network such as voice and video chatting with Screen Share and support for BlackBerry natural sound. Apart from that, the Z3 has BlackBerry Keyboard that gives one of the best Hindi typing experiences on a touch-screen, Instant Previews and Reply for instant previews for BBM, SMS and email message.
The new device is an attempt by the Canadian phone maker to salvage its falling market share by addressing price sensitive users in countries such as India. The deal with Foxconn, announced at the Mobile World Congress in February, is part of BlackBerry’s efforts to drive down costs of devices on its BB-10 operating system. The Z3 was designed primarily with Indonesian customers in mind.
