As it launched the third model in the Millennium series, Celkon Mobiles gives the ecommerce firm Snapdeal exclusive online window to sell online the ‘slimmest’ phone under the ₹10,000-mark it launched today. It, however, would sell the phone through the retail network too.
“We are offering no discount to them (Snapdeal). They will sell at the same rate (₹ 7,999) as we sell in the retail market. After one week, we will be selling the phone through Flipcart too,” Celkon Mobiles Managing Director Y Guru has said.
The company is planning to launch seven models in the range in a price band of ₹ 4,500-12,000 in the next two weeks. “We will launch an Octa core phone in October for ₹10-12,000,” he said.
Addressing a press conference after tennis player Sania Mirza launched the Millennium Vogue Q455 phone here on Friday, he said the company received orders for 40,000 phones. “We are making arrangements for 60,000 more. We are planning to sell this phone in 18 countries, including Bangladesh, Dubai, Singapore, Nepal and Sri Lanka,” he added.
At 7.9-mm thickness, it is the slimmest phone in the sub-Rs 10,000 category. The 4.5-inch phone comes with 1.2 GHz quad core Cortex A7 processor and a 2000mAH battery.
The Hyderabad-based company sells 7 lakh phones a month this financial year. Last year, it registered a turnover of Rs 850 crore.
