NIIT Technologies has bagged an infrastructure management services order from Eurostar, the high-speed passenger service between the UK and mainland Europe. The company did not divulge the exact size of the five-year contract but said it runs into multi-million pounds. The revenue from the order will kick in from the current quarter. The order involves managing and monitoring Eurostar's entire IT infrastructure including desktops, servers and the network.
“It also involves data centre consolidation, virtualisation and running support centre activities including helpdesk…NIIT Technologies was chosen from 35 global firms to support the drive to improve efficiency as part of Eurostar's ongoing focus on service quality,” the NIIT Technologies CEO, Mr Arvind Thakur, said at a conference here.
NIIT Technologies will also design and set up a new Wide Area Network connecting all Eurostar offices and stations as well as provide multi-lingual support to operations in the UK, France, Belgium, Switzerland and the Netherlands. The contract is based on service level agreements for remote infrastructure services and hosting of critical applications, he added.
NIIT Tech, which serves customers such as British Airways, ING and AXA, currently focuses on verticals such as travel and transport; banking, financial services and insurance; and manufacturing and distribution, for providing IT services.
“Our partnership with Eurostar will help in gearing up the company's IT infrastructure for the London Olympics next year and increasing its market share by attracting travellers. Our focus would also be on providing green solutions,” Mr Thakur added.
