Eram Scientific Solutions, a manufacturer of electronic toilets, has unveiled a new eToilet mobile app.
The Android app is downloadable for free from Google Playstore by typing the keyword ‘etoilets.’
It helps locate the nearest etoilets via a map and address listings, Anvar Sadath K, CEO, Eram, says.
It also provides details on mode of access and information on facilities such as napkin-vending machines and incinerators.
It enables sharing feedback on the user experience of eToilets along with image uploading.
The public could also use the app to suggest new places for installing eToilets.
eToilets have opened a new era in the public sanitation sector with its unmanned, self-cleaning and remote monitoring features, Sadath said.
The app has been launched as part of establishing a new connected eToilet Infrastructure (CeTI) on the occasion of World Toilet Day (November 19).
Meanwhile, Eram has leveraged the GPRS-based tracking facility of eToilets to develop CeTI, a distinguishing feature of public eToilets unlike its conventional counterparts.
CeTI is modelled on the Australian toilet map. So far, in India, Chennai Corporation has the most number of connected eToilets (more than 150 in number).
The app and CeTI are unique attempts at launching novel technology concepts such as the Internet of Things and Big Data to revolutionise the sanitation sector.
Even advanced countries are yet to explore opportunities in this line, Sadath said.
Eram Scientific has currently set up over 1,300 eToilets across 18 states, and has won more than 39 national and international awards.
The company has sought support and feedback from users and administrators to improve the mobile app, based on which a final version would be brought out by January 1, 2016.
The company is willing to provide support to stakeholders to map and connect existing public toilets as well, Sadath said.
