Supermarket chain Big Bazaar partnered with Google to increase footfalls in its stores with targeted advertising. For a retailer without e-commerce channels, the decision has yielded rich results, and helped the company bag a global award in creating India’s first online to offline strategy.
Smart Search
Aided by MediaCom India, a member of advertising and media major WPP, Big Bazaar developed and promoted ‘Smart Search’ with shoppers asked to prefix ‘Big Bazaar’ on the item they wanted on Google search. At the top of search rankings, consumers were rewarded with coupons of the specific product, redeemable at any of the Big Bazaar outlets.
At the 29th annual M&M Global Awards held in London recently, MediaCom India won its first M&M Global Award in digital for its innovative campaign.
Latish Nair, Chief Digital Officer, MediaCom told BusinessLine , “The simplicity of the concept was key to the development of this solution.”
Pawan Sarda, Group Head-Digital, Future Group said, “The campaign has helped us acquire newer and younger customers.”
