Oppo mobiles, the Chinese smartphone-maker that’s aggressively pushing its presence in the country, announced the launch of its online-only sub-brand Realme on Tuesday, which will be exclusively retailing on Amazon.
Realme smartphones are targeted at the youth and Oppo claims over 200 millions fans of the brand around the globe. The brand will offer smartphones in the price range of ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 and the first product from its stable, the Realme 1, will be available on Amazon from May 15 onward.
The phone has been teased by the company and on Amazon’s own website and it has a diamond-cut back panel that does look alluring, along with a single camera and a flash unit. The page on Amazon further states that the Realme phones have been put through 10,000 drop tests, 10,000 USB tests, and 1,00,000 button tests. Further, the company said that Realme users will have access to over 500 authorised service centres across the country.
Not much else has been revealed about the phone apart from these teasers, but we expect it to take on the likes of Xiaomi and Honor phones in the budget segment. However, Realme will also come up with premium products in the near future, a press release said.
