Oracle India commences operations in Kerala

Oracle India has commenced its operations from the State at Technopark here from Thursday.

The company has leased 40,000 sq ft of space at the Leela Infopark in the Technopark campus but began functioning temporarily from an office space at the Park Centre till such time the former gets ready for occupation.

50 FRESHERS JOIN

The company has already done a few campus interviews earlier this year and 50 of those selected have reported in for training, a company spokesman said.

Oracle India currently employs about 28,000 IT professionals and has a big presence in Bengaluru. Thiruvananthapuram would be its first venture outside of a metro.

The IT major has a potential to generate huge employment opportunities depending on the level of operations which in turn will depend on the availability of quality manpower, the spokesman added.

He quoted Mr T. Balakrishnan, Additional Chief Secretary-IT and Industries, as saying that Oracle's arrival is a great boost for the IT landscape of the State and help it to become globally visible as one of the favored IT destinations in India.
