In a bid to back Indian technology entrepreneurs, early stage investor Rehan Yar Khan today launched a Rs 300 crore Venture Capital fund called Orios Venture Partners.
Orios will invest in early stage companies from Seed to Series A and Series B with investments ranging from Rs. 50 lakh to Rs. 20 crore in key growth sectors such as Internet and B2B software products for global markets, according to a company statement.
Khan has been one of the leading early stage investors with investments in 19 companies of which 15 companies from his portfolio have seen successes and remarkable growth including Druva, OlaCabs, Jigsee (VuClip), Unbxd and PrettySecrets, said company officials. Druva, his first such investment, which is currently valued at over Rs. 1000 cr.
Talking about the fund, Rehan Yar Khan, Managing Partner, Orios Venture Partners said: "Today the Indian Internet is witnessing phenomenal growth which will see over half a billion people online by 2020 and over hundred million people shopping online providing a ready opportunity for dynamic entrepreneurs to cater to these growing needs.”
