OYO opens back-office, tech development centres

OYO, the tech-based hospitality company, is looking at increasing its staff base to 9,000 employees from the present 6,000, as it targets a room strength of 1.80 lakh by next year-end. It has a capacity of 70,000 rooms now.

The firm opened a back office and an engineering services centre in Hyderabad to support its national expansion plans. The Technology Development Centre in Hyderabad will work on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence solutions. It presently has back-office and tech teams at Gurgaon.

Ritesh Agarwal, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of OYO, has said the centre would be responsible for management and development of different verticals, including holiday packages, sales technology and solutions for corporate travel. It would have a team of 300 engineers by the end of 2018.

On Friday, the firm said it would work with National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management to develop a hybrid learning programme.
