Patra India BPO Services, a subsidiary of Patra Corp with its headquarters in Novato, California, is focusing on tier-two cities in India and it has plans to increase its manpower from 2,000 to 5,000 by 2020.
It is a BPO company which first started its Indian operations here in 2005 and later moved to Raipur and Bengaluru as well.
Company’s CEO and co-founder John S. Simpson, who visited the Visakhapatnam campus in connection with the decennial celebrations, said here on Friday that at present 1500 were employed in the office here and the number would be doubled in the next three years. The company was mainly dealing with the insurance organisations, he added.
He said the company was quite happy with "the way the Andhra Pradesh Government is encouraging the IT sector after bifurcation of the State."
Simpson said the company plans to start a virtual university to train employees in leadership management, insurance procedures, spoken English and soft skills . The company deals with over 100 distinct services for retail agencies - commercial, personal lines and employee benefits.
Lakshmi Mukkavilli, the Managing Director, said the company was at present doing business of Rs 40 crores or so in India.
