The PC industry is "cautious" about the sales outlook for the December quarter, after a stellar July-September showing, Mr S. Rajendran, Chief Marketing Officer of Acer India, said.
The cautiousness for the current quarter is on account of the proposed increase in product prices, a result of rupee’s recent weakness, and also because demand tends to taper, post festive season buying.
He said that on a quarter-on-quarter comparison, the sales in September quarter was over 25 per cent higher than the previous month. Terming the rupee’s depreciation as a big disappointment for players, Mr Rajendran said that Acer too was contemplating a price hike. “We are considering a 6-10 per cent increase in the coming days,” he pointed out.
