India’s PC sales growth rate is expected to more than double during FY12 to 35 per cent, thanks to rise in disposable income and return of job stability. According to hardware association MAIT, the sales of personal computers - that is, desktops, notebooks and netbooks - is likely to cross 12.6 million units during 2011-2012.
The total PC sales rose 16 per cent for the year ended March 2011 to 9.31 million units, and the notebooks and netbook sales growth continued to outpace the desktop segment. The sales of desktops stood at 6.03 million units, a growth of nine per cent. On the other hand, notebooks and netbooks together recorded a consumption of 3.28 million units, 31 per cent higher than the previous fiscal. That said, the growth rate of notebooks is lower than FY10, when the segment grew 61 per cent.
