Prasar Bharti has shortlisted names for the post of Director Generals of Doordarshan (DD) and All India Radio (AIR) and forwarded the list to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry which would select the final candidates.
The names were zeroed in on at a special meeting of the Prasar Bharti board here today.
Sources said that the board has shortlisted three candidates each for posts of DG Doordarshan and DG AIR.
Though the PB board meets for its regular meeting tomorrow, a special meeting was called today so that the agenda for selection of candidates was not merged with regular issues, the sources said.
The post of Director General of Doordarshan has been lying vacant since last month, while DG, AIR, Ms Noreen Naqvi is retiring on March 31.
DG Doordarshan, Ms Aruna Sharma was repatriated to her parent cadre in Madhya Pradesh after a PMO directive following her alleged involvement in the CWG telecast scam.
However, the I&B Ministry has not given the go ahead for a CBI probe against Ms Sharma saying it was still examining her reply following the charges.
