Reliance Communications and its subsidiary Global Cloud Xchange (GCX) on Wednesday launched a cloud-centric service called Cloud X WAN.
Cloud X WAN is suited for India as it offers seamless connectivity and double bandwidth at existing price points, RCom said. Cloud X WAN will provide cloud-based managed services worldwide across the company's proprietary Cloud X platform.
It has also introduced Cloud Telephony, which will facilitate business customers to get a local area network (LAN)-like experience while connected to the internet.
Cloud X WAN, according to RCom, is an evolution of GCX’s existing hybrid WAN service, which already connects over 20,000 locations to a global Multi-protocol Label Switching network through the internet.
Businesses adopting the new cloud solution will get the subscription to network services on a pay-as-you-go basis, meaning their network infrastructure can be as agile as the cloud service it connects into.
“In today’s market, it is evident that SD WAN is rapidly gaining momentum as it offers an innovative way to adapt traditional WANs to cloud services,” said Bill Barney, CEO, RCom and GCX.
Explaining the SD WAN, Braham Singh, Senior V-P, RCom (Enterprise) and GCX said: “A simple SD WAN router will form the basic building block, carrying out instructions from a centralised SD WAN controller.”
He added, “This device will perform key routing functions and virtual network functions as selected in real time in a portal by the customer.”
