Telecom operator Reliance Jio Infocomm’s President Sumit D Chowdhury has resigned from the company to start his own venture.
“I have quit to start my own venture. It is in the field of smart cities,” Chowdhury told PTI.
This is the third high-profile exit from Reliance Jio and the second within a month after its Managing Director Sandeep Das was moved to its sister concern Reliance Retail.
Chowdhury joined RJio in September 2012 where he worked as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for one year and then moved into a business leadership role.
He was also responsible for creating the ecosystem of companies that will build solutions on top of RJio platforms and network to provide interesting consumer services.
In March 2014, Arvind Rao, who was looking after innovation business and strategies for the company, quit to pursue his own interest. Later in the year RJio Human Resources head Steve Correa also left the company.
