Reliance Jio Infocomm (RJio), a wholly-owned subsidiary of private sector major Reliance Industries (RIL), has announced tariff plans starting at ₹309, even as it withdrew its ‘Summer Surprise’ offer.
The plans under ‘Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan’ will be available from Tuesday. Existing Jio customers, who have not recharged, are given the option to do it by April 15, the company said in a statement.
RJio’s ₹309 plan provides unlimited SMS, calling and data (1 GB per day at 4G speed) for three months on first recharge. It also announced a ₹509 plan for daily high-data users, under which it will offer unlimited SMS, calling and data (2 GB per day at 4G speed) for three months on first recharge, it said.
For users, who were unable to subscribe to its Jio Prime membership scheme, is also given options to join the scheme by paying ₹408 or ₹608 (Jio Prime a+ recharge price) to avail themselves of these benefits, it added. The charges for Prime Membership scheme was at ₹99.
Last week, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) advised RJio to withdraw its free offer, which the company said was in the process of complying. RJio, however, said that those who had already signed up will continue to get free services under the offer till July.
Jio was expected to start charging for its services from April 1. However, it extended the deadline to buy the ₹303 plan and other plans until April 15.
Under the Jio Summer Surprise offer, those who bought the ₹99 Prime membership by April 15, with a ₹303 plan or higher, would be eligible for the three-month complementary services.
Close to 72 million subscribers had signed up for the Prime Membership offer. However, the company had nearly 100 million users when services were free.
