Samsung India has added two more phones to its smartphone range, taking the total number of phones in the segment to 19.
“We are going to launch some more this year,” Mr Ranjit Yadav, Country Head (Mobile and IT) of Samsung India, said.
While Galaxy S Advance is priced at Rs 26,900, Galaxy Pocket is priced at Rs 8,150.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday after the launch of new phones, Mr Yadav said the company targeted to increase its share in the smartphone market to 60 per cent by this year-end from the current share of 44.7 per cent. Smartphone market was pegged at 20 million units for the year as against 8-10 million units last year.
Asked how it would increase the share by 15 percentage points, he said the company would offer choice and new categories.
For consumers in India, Samsung tied up with Landmark to give access to 3 lakh books, 26 newspapers and 28 magazines. In the book section, Samsung buyers could get access to 19 lakh titles for free, including some titles from India.
It also tied up with aggregators to offer 660 movies, 50 children's movies and host of film songs. A good number of them were offered on a free. Some of them could be accessed for a fee. The new phones have a feature that allows users to wipe out all data stored when they lose their devices.
To launch Tablet
The company would launch another 7-inch tablet early next month, targeting the premium segment. It, however, refused to divulge more details.
