Peter Gartenberg, Managing Director of software giant SAP India, has resigned.
Confirming the development, a spokesperson said SAP Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) has appointed Suprakash Chaudhuri as the acting Managing Director of its India business with immediate effect.
This is the first time since 2009 that SAP is seeing a change in leadership.
In October 2009, SAP appointed Stephen Watts, Chief Operating Officer of SAP Asia Pacific Japan, as Interim President, SAP India after Ranjan Das, the then President, SAP India died due to a cardiac arrest.
In the next month, Gartenberg took over from Steve Watts. He was responsible for all market-facing activities across the organisation, overseeing customer operations as well as general management such as sales, consulting, partner ecosystem expansion and marketing. SAP India will continue to drive the focus of bringing innovative opportunities to its customers using everyday business insight to stay ahead in one of its most globally exciting markets, a SAP spokesperson said.
While last month SAP confirmed its full-year 2012 outlook for operating profit to reach $6.23-6.48 billion, analysts have said that this target falls short of internal expectations.
To achieve this, the company has told its staff to control costs.
According to Gartner, the enterprise software market in India is projected to grow 13 per cent in 2012, with revenues of $3.22 billion.
