Serco, the U.K.-based services company, has appointed Alpna Khera as its Chief Executive officer for its Frontline Services business in India.

In her role as the CEO, Khera will be responsible for developing Serco’s frontline services business in India with particular focus on transportation, healthcare and education services, the company said in a statement.

Serco’s frontline services provide operational support for education and IT infrastructure among others.

She joins Serco from GE, and prior to GE, she served with BGGTS (a joint venture between GE and BHEL) and Torrent Power.

Serco already has a presence in India with more than 40,000 people delivering business process outsourcing services to both international and domestic customers from 42 centres across the country as part of Serco’s global BPO capability.

Khera will also serve as a member on Serco’s regional Africa, Middle East, Asia and Australia (AMEAA) board.
