Nokia India's Managing Director Mr Mr D Shivakumar has been appointed as the head of the newly created IMEA region based out of Dubai. The India-Middle East-Africa region accounts for about 40 per cent of Nokia's volumes according to industry estimates. The move is part of Nokia's global restructuring wherein it has collapsed eight regions into four. The IMEA region, to be headed by Mr Shivakumar, comprises around 90 countries. The handset major will appoint a new head for India operations over the next few months.
“There is no change in the status of India for Nokia as a result of this restructuring. India continues to be the largest manufacturing base for us. The only change is that new India head will report to me instead of the Nokia Board,” Mr Shivakumar said.
