The Communication and IT Minister, Mr Kapil Sibal, today met Internet giants, including Google, Facebook and Yahoo, in a bid to device a mechanism to monitor social networking usage in the country.
The meeting was called after concerns were raised about discriminatory messages against the Government and top functionaries. According to Government sources, the companies expressed their inability to monitor each and every message posted on their sites due to the sheer volume. They have offered to help the Government in case of specific cases.
