Sify Technologies has come out with a video conferencing solution that promises “high-definition” experience to users on the move. While traditional video conferencing systems require high-end expensive telepresence rooms with routers and other equipment, ‘Sify videomeet' software solution allows users to access conferences from any device — mobile, tablet or the laptop and telepresence rooms, said Mr Harsha Ram, DGM — Products. And unlike “low-end” Web-based offerings such as Skype and MSN video conference, that are not high-definition or secure, videomeet offers a secure high-definition video and audio experience, he said. Users are not tied to rooms, given that today's workforce is a mobile lot, according to Mr C.V.S. Suri, President and CEO, Sify Enterprise Services.
Sify's technology partner Vidyo enables video conferencing over the Internet, LTE, 3G and 4G networks. Enterprises can also use private networks.
The capex required is minimal or negligible depending upon the infrastructure owned by enterprises, said Mr Ram. Enterprises without infrastructure or suitable device need to purchase room-based or personal desk-based hardware costing Rs 2.5-9. This is half the cost of a telepresence system, he said.
