To launch e-commerce site, rope in direct resellers

In a bid to garner more subscribers for its mobile services, Sistema Shyam TeleServices Ltd is looking at new ways to reach end-consumers.

This includes roping in university students as its reselling agents and launching a new online venture for e-commerce.

The company, which offers mobile services under the MTS brand, has already started pilot projects for the reseller programme similar to companies such as Tupperware.

Speaking to

Business Line , Lenny Musatov, Chief Marketing Officer, Sistema Shyam said, “We are engaging students and housewives to be our resellers. We are also offering students internship with the company as a reward.”

Mobile operators have been finding new and innovative ways to sell their services.

For example, Uninor had roped in newspaper delivery boys and auto-rickshaw drivers to sell connections. Sistema Shyam is going a step further to launch an online portal to sell smartphones and dongles which can be used on its network.

“We want to be a full fledged e-commerce site that takes care of complete solution from ordering to delivering at the user’s doorstep,” said Dmitry Shukov, CEO, Sistema Shyam. While the beta version of the portal has gone live online, commercial launch is expected in the next few months.
