Implementation of Smart Cities has been shallow, according to Wipro Chairman Azim Premji.
Responding to a question from a student at its annual Earthian Awards, the soaps to software chief said that it is unfortunate that despite catching a lot of attention from PM Narendra Modi, its implementation has not been up to the mark. “There's little action on the ground,” he said. Premji was referring to the additional 50 cities getting classified as 'smart cities' as well as a lack of uniform technology standards that can form the backbone of smart cities in India.
“Proper understanding of what constitutes a smart city also needs to be looked into,” he added.
