Smartcity Kochi (SCK) has received the environmental clearance for the entire project covering 246 acres even as the construction of the first IT building is nearing completion.
Gigo Joseph, CEO, Smartcity Kochi, said in a press statement that they had received environmental clearance for the 6.5 lakh sq ft first IT building (SCK01) in July last year and later the company applied for the rest of the project, which has been cleared now.
According to him, SCK will develop no less than 8.8 million sq ft built-up area with a substantial extent of land area left for greenery and open spaces, to house Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Media, Finance and Research and Innovation clusters, attracting companies from within India and abroad.
He said that the environmental clearance was given at the meeting of State Environment Impact Assessment Authority Kerala (SEIAA-K) followed by the State Expert Appraisal Committee’s recommendations.
