Faced with issues of safety, privacy and negative impacts on young minds, Facebook has taken up an initiative to educate school children on these aspects.
In partnership with Learning Links Foundation, Facebook brought together a group of twelve students from different schools across Hyderabad met at its office on Tuesday.
It was perhaps the first ever online safety ambassador’s roundtable. A team from Facebook trained the young ambassadors on safety features and shared best practices on how to stay safe online, a press release said.
The students were joined by policy makers and educators who held a parallel session on the need for incorporating online safety education in schools and communities and to empower young people to make wise choices online.
These meetings with the Foundation, a non-governmental organisation with over 13 years experience in education and objective of improving learning levels, promoting innovation and enabling systemic changes in the education ecosystem, will be expanded to other cities across the country in due course.
Facebook and Learning Links Foundation will be expanding the roundtables across cities in India. To join the conversation and stay connected like the Stay Safe Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/StaySafeIndia
