WhatsApp has now made it easier to send money to other UPI IDs. This addresses the criticism, especially by Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar, that WhatsApp's UPI did not have interoperability. When a user now clicks on the Send Payment option in Settings, there is a new 'Send to UPI ID' on the top, which allows the user to send money to any UPI ID, including BHIM's @UPI.
Also, if the user tries to send money to another user who has not activated WhatsApp payments, the 'Send to another UPI ID' option pops up again.
No PIN or password yet. WhatsApp is yet to address another criticism - it still does not have PIN or password protection, while all other UPI apps have it. This was also one of the criticisms by Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar.
