At the close of the fifth day of the telecom spectrum auctions the Government has got commitments of ₹94,000 crore.
Seven rounds of bidding took place on Monday. The auctions intensified for 800MHz with bid price seeing a continued upward trend between 25.2 per cent and 72.7 per cent in circles such as Madhya Pradesh, Mumbai, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
Intense bidding Similarly, intensity for 900 MHz continued in circles such as Bihar, Kerala, Odisha and Himachal Pradesh, doubling the bid price. However, in the 1,800 MHz, the bidding continued to be muted in circles such as Bihar, Gujarat, Kerala and UP (west). There were no takers for 2,100 Mhz in the Andhra Pradesh, Delhi and Mumbai. At the end of 24 rounds on Saturday, the value stood at ₹86,000 crore.
Spectrum still available While the Centre expected to get commitments of about ₹1 lakh crore, the trend shows that it will cross the target. The auction will resume from Tuesday morning for the unsold spectrum. “The bidding has taken place in all bands. At present, a value of approximately ₹94,000 crore has been committed by bidders in respect of provisionally won spectrum. There is still spectrum, which is yet to be sold,” the Department of Telecom said.
