The Telecom Ministry's targeted commitment amount of Rs 1-lakh crore reached on Thursday as the auction's bidding amount crossed the said amount.
The Government has got commitment of Rs 1,02,057 crore by the end of eighth day and 49 rounds, in the spectrum auctions that started on March 4. The bidding took place for 18 circles on Thursday
"It is a great assurance for us that the bid amount today has crossed Rs 1-lakh crore plus closing at Rs 1,02,057 crore. Today is the day for me to compliment all the telecom players who are participating in this auction," Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister of Telecom and IT told reporters here.
The auction is still active and is expected to go on till early next week.
There were 43 rounds of bidding on Wednesday and the commitment amount had reached Rs 96,000 crore.
