Steria, the Paris-based IT business services firm, will hire 2,000 employees in India to take the total here to 8,000 as it set its eyes on the domestic market.

“Of the 2,000 employees we plan to hire, 50 per cent will be freshers and the remaining would laterals. We will be tapping the freshers from campuses in the North,” Mr Mukhesh Aghi, Chief Executive Officer of Steria (India), told Business Line on the sidelines of Nasscom Leadership Forum here on Thursday.

Of the 6,000 employees in India, 500 are focused on the domestic market, with 150 coming on board last year.

The €1.7-billion firm is using its Indian operations to support its largely Europe customers.

“Apart from supporting global customers, we are seeing India as an attractive market. We are awaiting tender from Airports Authority of India for the proposed modernisation of 10 airports. We will bid to offer our airport management systems to the Indian aviation sector,” he said.
