Infosys Ltd has set an ambitious and an ‘aspirational’ target of becoming a $20-billion company by 2020 with a total headcount of nearly 2.50 lakh employees then. This is more than double the current revenue of $8.7 billion, said Vishal Sikka, CEO and Managing Director of Infosys.
However, he was quick to add that it was not a financial forecast. “It is an aspirational goal. We do not have any operational plans for that. We will only use that to organise our thoughts in that direction. It is a guidepost to steer our company,” he explained to the media at its Maraimalai Nagar facility near Chennai. The targeted growth will be through a combination of both organic and inorganic. Of the revenue in the next six years, about $1.5 billion will come from inorganic growth and roughly $2.5 billion through next-gen services such as artificial intelligence and automation.
“The rest will come from our existing services if that business grows by 13-14 per cent year-on-year,” he said.
To achieve $20 billion revenue, the average revenue per employee should be increased to $80,000 from the current $55,000.
Most of the routine works would be automated and more number of employees would be deployed in projects giving higher revenue, he said.
Infosys will add nearly 70,000 employees to achieve the goal by 2020, he said.
