Tata Business Support Services (TBSS) has announced the launch of its eighth rural centre at Ambara, 30 km from Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh. It would be developed into one of the largest rural Business Process Management (BPM) centres. 

Overall it will be the 19th centre of the company in India. Operations have commenced from the temporary site, which would be used for training subsequently.

Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kamal Nath inaugurated the centre in the presence of Madhu Kannan, GEC Member, Tata Sons, and Sarajit Jha, COO & Interim Managing Director, TBSS.

Standard Chartered is the first client for the centre and has committed to increase its support going forward.

TBSS has already received possession of land from the Madhya Pradesh Govt and would build the centre in two phases. It over 2,000 people working in seven centres across India and is the largest rural BPM in the world, according to a press release.

The strategy has been to select high SC/ST concentration areas and open rural centres to ensure maximum absorption of candidates from these sections of society. TBSS has a vision of becoming 80 per cent  SWAM – Single, Women, Adivasi and Minorities by 2017, which is currently at 46 per cent.

TBSS is a 100 per cent owned subsidiary of Tata Sons involved in customer relationship management space.
