Taxsmile.com, part of the eMudra group, has developed automated machines for filing tax returns.
“ATF is one of the multiple channels aimed at facilitating tax filing in the neighbourhood of the tax payer and operating it is as simple as doing a transaction at a bank ATM,” said Ms Kalaivani Chittaranjan, chief executive officer (CEO) and executive director, eMudra consumer services.
Former Indian cricket captain Anil Kumble unveiled the first ATF in Bangalore. In addition to return preparation, ATF also has an option for consumers to view computation, update tax payments and e-file income tax returns.
“Through ATF, Taxsmile will support filing of income tax returns for individuals who are not required to maintain books of accounts or get them audited,” said Ms Chittaranjan.
The company is planning to install these machines across the country in phases. In phase I, Taxsmile plans to focus on major metros and install about 50 machines.
The company has plans to install these ATFs at corporate campuses, shopping malls and café outlets in major cities. Through these ATFs, Taxsmile hopes to target a substantial share in the 35 to 40 million tax payer base in the country.
Ms Chittaranjan said “Taxsmile has its own tax preparation and filing website and is also an e-return intermediary (ERI) authority by the Income Tax Department.”
