The country’s largest software exporter Tata Consultancy Services is giving out a one-time bonus to employees who have been with the company for at least a year.
The ‘Special Reward’ scheme, which marks the 10{+t}{+h} anniversary of the company’s initial public offering in 2004, will result in an outgo of ₹2,628 crore from TCS’ books. Employees who have completed at least a year in the company will be given a ‘reward’ equivalent to one week’s salary for every year of service completed at TCS, according to a press statement.
“This Special Reward to employees acknowledges the role they have played in building TCS into one of the most respected and valued technology services companies in the world,” said N Chandrasekaran, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the company. This means that a staffer who has been with the company for four years will get roughly a month’s salary as bonus.
The company also hopes that such measures will help in curtailing attrition, which stood at 14.9 per cent for the quarter.
Ajoy Mukherjee, Executive Vice-President, Head, Global Human Resources, said: “Today, there is a huge demand for trained technology experts as the market is booming. The high attrition reflects this trend.”
Wage hike In the current quarter, TCS is expected to announce average wage hike in the range of 6-10 per cent in India.
Wage hikes in overseas markets would be in the range of 2-4 per cent, Mukherjee added.
The company ended fiscal 2015 with a headcount of 3,19,656. It also became the first Indian private sector employer to have over one lakh women on its rolls.
